Instant homemade Nutella – Healthy almond nutella
Crave your favourite Nutella but find empty shelves at supermarket? Or hesitating on the sugar-laden tubs you’ve got at home? You can now make homemade Nutella in just 5 minutes and enjoy it anytime you want. Plus, it’s sugar-free, low-sweet, vegan, and full of healthy omega-3 too!
No nut roasting, no futzing, no laborious food processing required. All you need is a tub of pure nut butter, soft dates, cacao powder, a pinch of salt, water, (optional) your favourite liquid sweetener, a blender or mixer, and 5 minutes. That’s IT!
Choose your nut base
This recipe works for any nut butter: peanut , almond, cashew, depending on your preference. Just make sure you go for a high quality, unsweetened and unsalted nut butter. It’s the additives that make or break the health factor of your spread
Sweeten it up
My ultimate choice so far is regular dates (Deglet Noor). They are softer than Medjool and thus requires no pre-soaking. Their sweetness is also milder, which will not overpower the nutty and cocoa-y flavours of our Nutella. Last but not least, they come at only 1/3 or half the price of Medjool. Wins all the way!
Blitz and store it
This is best kept in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. However, if you use milk instead of water, the shelf-life will be shortened to just a few days. I doubt there would be anything left after 2 days though 😉
